It seems that the Canucks are falling into a regular losing pattern in recent games, especially while at home; and it’s not going over easy with the fans. On Saturday night, Vancouver hosted Minnesota only to lose in overtime; again. Vancouver scorers featured Alex Edler, and Ryan Kesler with two goals. Minnesota players who ranked up points were Mikko Koivu, Marc-Andre Bergeron, Eric Belanger, and once again Marc-Andre Bergeron in overtime. Overall, the Canucks put in a better effort but once again failed to put a W in the win column.

The Vancouver Canucks and the Edmonton Oilers faced off last night in Edmonton, it was a back and forth game but the Canucks managed to pull out with the victory. After a rather slow first period, the Canucks opened the scoring in the second as Alex Burrows scored a snap shot with less than five minutes left in the period, the goal was assisted by Steve Bernier and Ryan Kesler; but the Oilers answered only ninety seconds later as Rob Nielson scored a power play goal. Then, Steve Bernier came only three seconds short of a club record as he scored two goals in just twelve seconds, assists went to Burrows and Kesler for the first goal, and just Burrows for the second. In the third, Erik Cole of Edmonton put it past Jason LaBarbera to put the Oilers within one; but the Canucks held the lead and Pavol Demitra put in a reassurance goal with only two minutes left into the empty net; assisted by Daniel Sedin.

Also Featured in this bout was the long awaited debut of former Toronto Maple Leaf’s Captain Mats Sundin. Wearing number thirteen for the Canucks, Sundin stood out with his large stature but remained off the scoring sheet in his first game since March 29th of 2008. Mats was mainly playing with teammates Kyle Wellwood and Mayson Raymon, and the Sedin’s twice during the powerplay. We will be watching to see if his presence makes a diffence as the Canucks attempt for a Stanley Cup in 2009.
